The NLA-SA is the representative body looking after the interests of the large number of accredited and non-accredited laboratories in South Africa. This includes measuring, testing, calibration, verification and other bodies, as well as laboratories which operate in well-defined areas of R&D in the natural and applied sciences. As we are all acutely aware, COVID-19 has had a drastic effect on the economy, business, our country and our communities and of course, our health! South Africa and our Global community are living through challenging times. We at the NLA are mindful of this and would like to re-iterate the importance of staying safe and healthy bytaking heed of the protocols such as continuous sanitisation, wearing of masks and appropriate social distancing.
Ouradministrative team have been operating remotely during the first part of lockdown and are now back in the office for the most part, adhering to all the safety measures.

As far as the ‘new normal’ goes, we are working hard at continuing operations and services as usual, however we are also embracing technology as far as possible. We would also like to thank our community for your continued support and look forward to embracing the so-called ‘new normal’ together.

It is with regret - although most probably not a surprise - that we have decided to cancel theT&M Conference for this year.

The NLA takes the health and safety of our members and staff very seriously and would not like to put anyone at risk. Furthermore, restrictions such as travel, social distancing and groups of people disallowed in one place, have made it impossible to host such a Conference at this stage, making planning very difficult.

However, we intend to host the T&M Conference in 2021 and are hopeful that the challenges of 2020 will be long forgotten! We thank you for your understanding.
